Next year will mark five years since we launched our innovative Safety Grant Program to fund policyholders’ workplace safety improvement projects, and we continue to see positive results.
Some policyholders reduced their claims to zero after implementing new equipment, and they’ve reaped additional benefits, such as increased efficiency, lower labor costs and opportunities to bid jobs more competitively.
Changes to expect
In 2021, we will improve on the Safety Grant Program through two key changes:
- Pre-application safety consultation
- Open application period
Beginning in 2021, policyholders can submit applications at any time. MEM will evaluate them twice per year with cutoffs for consideration on March 1 and Sept. 1, and award announcements following in May and November each year.
Policyholders interested in applying for a safety grant must first log in and complete their policyholder information form. They will then be required to complete a pre-application consultation with a Safety and Risk Services consultant before completing their grant application. This will allow us to help identify the best equipment to address your unique business and claims needs. You will be contacted by your Safety and Risk Services Consultant within a few business days of the submission of your policyholder information form.
Please allow for enough time to schedule the consultation, which must be performed on-site unless it is determined a virtual option is safer due to health and safety requirements under COVID-19.
